Spring, Running, Riding, Smoking

There has been a ton of activity since my last post!

2 more road races complete.   On Good Friday I ran the Burlington Good Friday Road Race 5K.   It was a fast race even with the hills along North Shore Blvd!  PB'ed my 5K time in 24:34.
61st from 308, 5K runners.  15th female from 176 and 3rd from 42 in my age group! Even won a prize! :-)

Then on Saturday, I ran the Brantford Running Series Fox Chase 8K.   Ran this one again in a pace faster than my training runs...in under 5 min K's.  I ended up 5th overall and 2nd female!

I am registered for my next race with my friend Theresa again...so looking forward to having a race buddy at the next one!

Anyone who knows me; knows my love for bacon!   I know it's got to be the worst meat ever for you but what isn't made better with bacon?   It's been a very long time since I made meatloaf...so I upped the anti just a fraction and did bacon wrapped meatloaf.  It was a little slice of perfection in every piece!

The little tiny orchid in the bathroom is bursting with spring abundance.   Isn't it beautiful!?

Since the last post there has been a few babies born to friends.   So time for some work in the studio to make baby quilts for the new arrivals!

I was fortunate enough to have 2 more lesson as well with Cara and Scott.
Izzy is figuring out her legs in the jumping and I am figuring out how to get that long, floating Weltmeyer stride compressed with power.   Now to get the wiggles out when I work at getting the power from behind with the engine still firing on two very powerful hind legs!

The weather has turned to the wonderful warmth of spring.   We had our first stunning weekend and a couple of days into the high teens and low 20's.  This warm weather brought out the "firsts" for 2015.
The first loads of laundry were hung out and the beautiful Marley fell asleep in the warm breeze.

Walked to the bush and back a few times now and found more antlers and Molly had a blast playing in the marshy areas!

The horses went out for the first time with no blankets!   Some pretty happy horses that were covered in mud within an hour.  Em and Elvis spent the afternoon flat out on their sides sunning themselves with no blankets!

The fish in the pond came alive and sunned themselves at the surface.

I was even able to have my first ride outside in the outdoor sand ring.   What a lovely feeling to be out in the open space again in the big ring!

DH and I went to the Odyesseo show in Toronto.   What a fabulous show!  Cirque du soleil meets horsemanship.  This was my favourite act.   24 horse at liberty pinwheel!

I did the first pick up of garbage in the front ditch.   We have a large area of frontage and living on a main road we do get a great deal of garbage that accumulates from disrespectful passer-by's.  I picked up one extra large garbage bag full from the winter.   :-(

This part of the blog is going to have a short rant...so if you are a smoker you might want to skip past this and just come back when a new post is up!
Ok...So here it goes...I must have picked up over 50 cigarette packages.   I am not exaggerating here!   They were covered in those horrific picture black lungs and people with oxygen masks.   Lots and lots of native cigarette packages too.   I am educated enough to know that smoking is an addiction.   I have to believe that the people that smoke are also educated enough to know that they are killing themselves...which...is that not insanely stupid to knowingly kill yourself?   Since these people I know have to have some level of wisdom...do they also not have enough smarts to know that its disrespectful and rude to litter?   As I picked up package after package I thought about the cost of smoking and how much it costs tax payers and our health care system and children who have family members that smoke.   I thought about how I have VERY few friends that smoke.  Literally, not one of my closest friends smoke.    I thought about people that smoke in cars with non smokers and I thought about how entitled smokers think they are.   They believe they have a right to smoke anywhere...even when the non smoker doesn't pollute the smokers air.   Granted people...if you are stupid smart enough to smoke...I think natural selection should help you along in your journey.   I also think that there should be some sort of community service requirement for smokers.   You cost us more, you create filth on the streets and you pollute our common air...even tho you think you have the right to smoke in the car, at doorways, in parks and on streets; polluting my air.   Ok rant over...sorry if you're offended...I welcome your feedback through comments here.   Tell me why I am wrong about smokers and their addiction.
